Electrical for Your Bathroom Remodel

Bathroom Remodeling: Electrical for your bathroom

While we here at the Bath Haus do not recommend doing any sort of electrical work without the assistance or advice of a qualified electrician, there are some things you can do on your own. The most fun part of a bathroom remodel is dreaming and planning, and you can do a lot with that! The first thing you need to do is assess your bathroom's electrical needs. For example, what types of electrical devices do you use while in the bathroom? What are your lighting requirements?

Bathroom Switches and Outlets

The placement of outlets and switches in the bathroom is regulated by governmentally mandated codes as pertains to the distance from sinks or bathtubs. However, you can plan your bathroom remodeling project around those placements while at the same time making great use of space. Consider what electrical devices and appliances you use in your bathroom. Do you want a bathroom vent fan or unique lighting elements? You can work with a bathroom remodeling contractor to decide how and where to incorporate these features. Also, think about the devices that you might need to charge while they are not in use and where you need a cord to reach. Another thing to consider is the growing popularity of using devices such as tablets or televisions in the bathroom. Thinking about and planning for all of these items will give you an excellent basis for your design plans in your bathroom remodeling project.

Creative Solutions

Aesthetics is a big consideration when it comes to designing any new remodeling project, and bathroom remodeling is no different. Concealing devices and appliances offers the option to hide bulky or awkward items like straightening irons or electric razors. Disguising outlets and switches can be done very discreetly and have a cool effect if done right. You can also highlight your appliances, switches, and outlet covers by incorporating them into the d├ęcor of the room! We have creative solutions for under-the-sink or hidden bathroom storage in our Inspiration Gallery.
